SUMMARY:Learn how to edit Wikipedia - Library Makerspace drop-in
DESCRIPTION:How often are you looking for an answer online and you find
yourself on Wikipedia? Yesterday? Today? Maybe tomorrow? Or perhaps you use
AI summaries\, which often pull information from Wikipedia.\n\nHave you
ever wondered how that information gets added to Wikipedia\, or edited and
updated? Well\, YOU could be the answer to that by becoming a Wiki
editor.\n\nDrop-in to the Library Makerspace (Ground Floor\, Edward Boyle
Library) and we'll show you how to get started with editing Wikipedia and
how it works behind the scenes.\n\nLucy Hinnie and Nick Sheppard will be on
hand to help\, answer any questions\, or just chat.\n\n"Reserve a place in
order to receive a calendar invite\, but that's not necessary\, you can
just come in and say hello!"\n\nWhy should you edit Wikipedia?\n\nWikipedia
is one of the most important information resources on the internet. It's
likely to be near the top of any Google search result and is also a source
for AI tools like Copilot and ChatGPT. It's a long way from perfect\,
however\, with errors\, gaps and biases.\n\nIn an age of misinformation\,
this drop-in session will give you a clearer sense of how information
arrives on your screen\, as well as your role in keeping that information
accurate and reliable.\n\n\nThis drop-in is part of a Wikimedia Residency
at the University of Leeds in partnership with Wikimedia UK.\n\nFuture
 drop-ins will be on the following dates:\n\n\n	13th May\n	9th June\n
