White Rose University Press: Our Open Access University Press

White Rose University Press: Our Open Access University Press In-Person

Curious about the benefits and possibilities of open access books? Interested in learning more about our very own open access university press?

Join us for an evening of talks, discussion, wine and nibbles to explore the opportunities for open access monograph publishing available with White Rose University Press (WRUP), the open access university press for the universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York.

We’ll hear about experiences of publishing with WRUP from Dr Emily Bell (School of English), the author of Dickens After Dickens (2020), which was recently published with WRUP. A short talk from the Library’s Associate Director: Content and Discovery, Jane Saunders will also explore Open Research at the University of Leeds.

The event will culminate in a panel discussion on the value and challenges of open access monographs. Speakers will include Professor Nick Plant (Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation), Dr Emily Bell (Lecturer in Digital Humanities & Digital Skills, School of English) and Professor Tom Stoneham (Chair of the WRUP Editorial Board & HoD for Philosophy, University of York), Claire Knowles (Library Associate Director: Research and Digital Futures) and Kate Petherbridge (White Rose University Press Manager).

This event will be of interest to researchers (staff and PGRs) wishing to learn more about publication options with WRUP, our own University Press, and about open access monographs more broadly. It will also be of interest to research support colleagues, librarians and other professional services staff. Colleagues, students and members of the public from beyond the University of Leeds are also welcome to attend.
